Things are shaping up for our fantastic fall fishing. The red drum, trout and flounder are biting well inshore, the big spanish mackerel and big sharks are chewing on the beach. The big new is the unbelievable bottom fishing and wahoo fishing starting in 100 ft. of water. The bee liners, bass, etc, as well as a few grouper are chewing hard, with some king mackerel in the same area. The wahoo bite has been great starting in 110 ft of water, where they are feeding on all the bee liners in the area. There have been mulitiple catch's of 4-8 wahoo reported. There are also a few dolphin, blackfin tuna, and billfish feeding on the break. The fishing only gets better from here, so give us a call and let's go fishing.

The spanish mackerel have shown back up on the beach, and the large sharks are biting as well. In the 65 ft. depths, the sea bass are biting very well, with a few gag grouper and amberjack in the mix. In the 80 ft. depths, the dolphin are biting well, with most fish in the 12-18 lb. range. The flounder are biting well on the reefs, and there are some redfish biting inshore. For the begining of august, the fishing is suprisingly good. Give us a call and let's go fishing.

Last week, the spanish bite was pretty slow, but in 65 ft of water on out, the bass and aj's were chewing. The big news is the gag grouper have finally made a showing in 70 ft. of water. The last few days we haven't been able to fish due to wind and thunderstorms, but will be back on the water tommorow. I'll let everyone know what happens.

The fishing was decent this past week, with king mackerel and big spanish at the shark hole, the jungle, the 390's, and all the normal area's. The amberjack's have been thick at the atlantic ledge as well as the 24 mile rock. Bass are every where from 50 ft. on out. Closer in, the spanish and sharks are feeding from the beach out to around 40 ft. of water. With the full moon gone, and the wind forcast to switch back to the sw, the fishing should really fire back off this week. Give us a call. Let's go fishing.

The fishing has been pretty good lately. The spanish mackerel have moved off of the beach into the 3 mile range, with a few small kings mixed in. The king mackerel bite has been good at the 15 mile rock, with a few cobia and mahi in the mix. Also in the 15 mile range the black sea bass have been chewing hard as well. Offshore, the grouper and bass bite has been great from 85 ft. on out. The fishing is good, the weather has been ok, so give us a call to book you're trip now.

Today, we headed to the sharkhole on a 3/4 day charter to try and find some king mackerel. Within 5 minutes of slowing down, we were hooked up. Put a nice one around 15 lbs. in the box, and a couple of minutes later, we were hooked up again. A twin of the first one. This continued on for the next hour and 45 minutes, and would have probably continued for longer, but we had our 9 fish limit, all 12-15 lbs. We headed back in to the beach to try and catch a shark, but they did't want to cooperate. We'll be back king fishing in the morning. I let everyone know how we do. Also, my customers are supposed to send me pics. I'll post them as soon as I get them.

Yesterday morning, we headed to the blackjack in search of dolphin. Upon arriving at 7:15, we made our first pass across the numbers, and it was on. 3 fish, 4 fish, 5 fish on. #6 comes greyhounding in from the side and nails the flatline, then busts off. #7 hits the planer bait on the way up, but never gets hooked up. We're covered up. We get the first 5 in, all between 15 and 20 lbs., then resest the spread. Nothing for awhile, so we head deep, out to 100 fathoms, then back without so much as a sniff. Once we get back in, the flatline gets nailed, 12 lb. blackfin, then both longriggers, 2 more dolphin in the box. We kept at it for the rest of the day, with 1 fish here, 2 fish there, and ended the day with a dozen dolphin up to the low 20's, and one tuna. The weather was beautiful, and the fish were hungry, what a day. I have a couple of half days toward the end of the week, I let everyone know what goes down. I should have some pics from yesterday tommorow, so I'll post them then.

Friday and Saturday both, we headed sw of the tower looking for a grouper of two. We managed a handful both days, with a ton of big bass, several big sharks each day, one 12-14 lb. american red snapper friday, and two in the same range on saturday. On Saturdy, I fished with good friends Lane and Ronnie, and in addition to that bottom fish, we did catch a nice king mackerel on the light line that 9 hours later weighed 36.5 lbs. I'll be headed to the gulfstream on tuesday. I have more pics that I'll post when I get them.

I've just heard that the king mackerel made a showing at the 390-390 yesterday. Some where caught on live pogies, and some on dead cigar minnows. They're a couple of weeks late, but are finally here. There should also be some fish at Light House Rocks and the Sharkhole. Any day now, we should have our normal early run of kings on the beach. They always follow the blue fish and spanish mackerel inshore, and are here by mother's day. The fishing is heating up, so it's time to get out there.

Yesterday, I had Chris Newton and crew on board for a blue water trip. We started at the Black Jack, and had only been trolling for about 5 minutes when the starboard flat went off. First dolphin of the year for us at around 6 lbs. Not huge, but a start. After working the BJ for another hour or so, we headed up the line toward the steeples. About a mile from the offshore numbers, the port rigger started screaming. After about a 15 minute fight on the tld 25, I start seeing color. Nice tuna, maybe the first yellowfin in a while. The fish got closer, and I see that it is a nice black fin, which would weigh 29 lbs. 12 oz back at the dock. About 10 minutes later, the shotgun went off. This one ending up being a football blackfin. We worked the are for a couple of more hours with nothing else, and decided to head back inshore to try to catch some beeliners. We couldn't get anything past the 3-6 lb. bass to catch anything else. Come on June 1. All in all, not a bad day, not the best, but certainly not the worst. It won't be long until the bluewater is on fire, and I can't wait.

I had a another half day charter this morning. We trolled around the big hill for an hour or a little longer, and put 18 blues and 8 spanish in the boat. The crew wanted to do a little bottom fishing, even though they knew that we couldn't keep any bass, so off we went. Once again, the nice bass were chewing hard. We caught probably 150 bass, with 50 or 60 in the 1-2 lb. range. June 1 can't get here quick enough. I have a bluewater trip in the am, so I'll let everyone know what happens. If you're out there, give me a shout on 6, Grace May. I know a couple of you tried to call me this morning, sorry I couldn't get back to you. I had a loose ground on my vhf, and it was affecting the signal big time, but I have it straightend out now. Happy Easter to everyone tommorow, and stay tuned.

I had a 5 hour and a 7 trip on the books today, but due to the weather, I moved the 5 hour am trip to tommorow. The afternoon trip wanted to go ahead and go and try some inshore fishing for whatever would bite, so we headed to Lockwood Folly inlet to anchor up and try to catch a few whiting. They were there, and nice sized one's too. In the first little bit, we put 18 or 20 in the box, along with 4 or 5 blues. We also hooked a flounder in the 16-17" range, but lost him right at the boat. After the current picked up and started running hard on the falling tide, the bite died off. There was rain starting to move in, so we decided to pack it in for the day. I forgot how much fun, and how relaxing this type of fishing can be. I have a half day in the morning, and a gulf stream trip on Sunday, so stay tuned. For anyone out there tommorow, give me a shout on 6, Grace May, and I'll let you know what's happening.

I had 2 half day charters today, and the fish were CHEWING. On the morning trip, the bluefish were biting hard in 20 ft. of water between Lockwood Folly and the big hill. We had numerous double and triple headers, keeping 15 and releasing another 15 or 20. We also caught our first spanish of the year. On the afternoon trip, the bluefish were still biting hard, but with a much smaller class of fish. Out of 15 or so in the first 30 minutes, we decided to head offshore a little bit and catch and release some "endangered" sea bass. I wouldn't hesitate to say we landed somewhere between 100 and 150 bass, with the majority keeper size, and quite a few over 2 lbs. I can't wait until June 1 when we can keep out bass again. All in all, not a bad day, with excellent fishing, and beautiful weather. I have 2 more trips tommorow, but don't know if the weatherman will let us go. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Friday, I had a half day charter with good friends and customers Edwin and Bruce. Edwin had his young grandsons, and was justing wanting them to catch something whether we could keep anything or not. We started about 3 miles from the inlet, and found not only beautiful seas, but plentiful big bass in the 14-18" range. We made a few drifts, and it slowed a little, so we kept moving. We ended the day 8 miles from the inlet, and probably caught in the neighborhood of 200 bass, with app. 60-80 that would have been keepers if it were open. All in all, not a bad trip, but would have been much better if we could have kept our fish

There has been an unbelievable grouper bit lately in 60 ft. of water, with 12-20 fish trips the norm. There are also alot of nice sea bass in the mix. The spanish bite has hit or miss on the beach, and the king mackerel have been extremely slow to bit lately. Good friend Capt. Jeff Reid, however did catch a few at the 15 mile rock yesterday, so who knows. In years past, the kings have shown up in force at the Jungle the third week of Sept, so it shouldn't be long before they fire back up. The big news is the wahoo bite, with boats getting there limits some trips. The last week of the month is when the beach and river channel bite always fire's off, and I can't wait. This is one of my favorite times of the year, since the fish are close, and schooled up big time. Give us a call and book today for the fishing trip of a life time.

With the full moon having the mackerel bite shut down, we have been doing alot of bottom fishing the last few days. The grouper bite has been awesome, with 10-15 fish trips the norm. The sea bass and other assorted bottom fish have been chewing quite well too. I have trips the rest of the week, with only a couple of openings, so give us a call soon to get in on the great fishing we have going on right now.

The fishing has been awesome the past few weeks. From spanish and sharks on the beach, king mackerel and amberjack a little further out, and grouper and b-liners in the 40 mile range. The last couple of days, we've caught everything from 300 lb sand tiger sharks to king mackerel close to the 40 lb. mark. Yesterday I had good friends Randy and Daniel on board for a 12 hour trip. The plan was to go to the black jack and see what happens. With the big south swell we had first thing in the morning, we decided to stop short in the 25 mile range and king mackerel fish. We put two low-teen's kings in the box pretty quick, then hooked a huge sand tiger shark. We had no clue what we had until 3 hours and 4.5 miles later, when the big fish surfaced right beside the boat. We'd had enough of that for a while, so we headed on out to around 90 ft. of water to try and find a mahi. The second line in the water got smoked by a nice king, which ended up weighing 33 lbs, 12 oz. After we started back trolling, we hooked up with another big sand tiger, which we released after a 2 hour fight. We'd all had more than enough of fighting huge fish on lite tackle, so we decided to bottom the last 30 minutes before we headed back in. We ended up with our limit of 10 big b-liners in the 3-4 lb range, two grouper, and a couple of other assorted bottom dwellers. Today, I had a 3/4 day trip, and had heard of a good class of fish in 60 ft of water, so we caught bait and headed on out. The first line in the water was absolutely smoked by a big king mackerel, which ended up weighing 39 lbs, 2 oz 6 hours later back at the dock. It was 10 year old Hunter's first ever fish. What a way to get broken in. We stayed hooked for the next 3 hours, ending the day with 10 kings, weighing 39, 29, 27, 5 more over 20, one around 18 and one around 12. We also had a 26" gag grouper hit the downrigger bait at 45 ft. I have a pic of the 39, and my guys from yesterday and today are going to e-mail me pics of the rest of the fish. The fishing is as good as it gets right now, so give us a call and let's go catching.

Sorry I haven't put a report up in a while. We've been extremely busy. The fishing is as good as it gets right now. On half day charters, we've been spanish fishing and shark fishing, catching good numbers of spanish and monster sharks, including a 9 ft. bull shark this morning. On 3/4 and full day trips, the king mackerel bite has been awesome, with fish at both the horseshoe and the 24 mile rock. There have also been a good number of amberjacks and a few cobia in the mix. As you can tell, the fishing is awesome now, so give us a call to book you're trip today!

After moving my trip this morning to tommorow due to thunderstorms, I booked a short 3 hour spanish trip for this afternoon once the weather cleared. We started trolling right outside the cans, and within 5 minutes had the first one in the box. We continued working to the east, picking up a fish here and there, mixed up between keepers and barely shorts. Made it down to Ocean Crest Pier, and turned around, trolling back to the inlet, slowly picking at them the whole way. I think we ended up with 8 keeper spanish, 3 or 4 bluefish, and 7 or 8 throwback spanish. All in all, not the best trip I've had, but not the worst either. The sea conditions weren't bad at all, 2 ft with the occasional 3 in the mix. I have a 7 hour trip in the morning. We're going to try to find a king mackerel. I'll let everyone know what happens.

On thursday, we ran a half day charter targeting king mackerel. After catching live bait, I headed to lighthouse rocks. The action was kind of hit or miss, with us landing 3 kings and 3 sharks. We left lighthouse and headed to ar 445, where we found a pretty good mixed bag bite, catching 4 more kings, a couple of amberjack, and hooking a big cobia. We fought the cobia, which weighed somewhere between 50 and 60 lbs, on light action, 20 lb. test gear for 2 and half hours before he broke us off on the reef.
On saturday, we ran a full day bottom fishing trip. After catching live bait, we decided to stop at lighthouse rock. We caught one king and one spanish there, then headed offshore to 95 ft of water, where we found an awesome black sea bass bite. We kept 57 or so, and released at least that many. Most were very nice fish, over 2 lbs. We put the trolling lines in before leaving the area, catching 2 more king mackerel. Before we came home, we decided to make a stop and see if we couldn't jig a few amberjacks up off of a wreck. As soon as the jig hit the water, I looked down, and there was a nice cobia swimming right beside the boat. Grabbing a live bait rod, Jason Wheatley flipped a pogie to the fish, which didn't take long to inhale the bait. This was a mean fish, fighting us for 3 hours on the 20 lb. test rod before coming close enough to gaff. As you can tell, the fishing is great right now, and should only get better. Give us a call today to book your trip!

The dolphin have shown up good in the gulfstream, with a few wahoo and blackfin tuna in the mix. They have all been biting on ballyhoo behind sea witches and small trolling lures. The king mackerel bite is good from around 40 ft. on out, with Lighthouse Rock and the 390/390 being the hotspots. There have also been a few fish around Christina's Ledge and AR 445. I didn't spend much time looking for pogies since frozen cigar minnows have been working as well or better. The cobia are mixed in with the king mackerel. Just set up a drip bottle with menhaden oil to get the brown torpedoe's up to the boat. While a cobia has a hard time resisting a live pogie, it's always a good idea this time of year to keep a rod rigged with a bucktail and long plastic worm to cast to them. I have also heard a couple of reports of dolphin mixed in with the king mackerel from 10 miles off the beach on out. Bottom fishing has been awesome, with some boats limiting out on grouper in around 100 ft. of water. Jason and Lauren Wheatley, Rickey Moore, Capt.'s Ryan Williams and Al Davis made the maiden voyage on our new boat, an Albemarle Express, to 90 ft of water. They absolutely murdered the big knothead seabass on saturday. The fishing's as good as it gets right now, so give us a call today to book your trip!

Had another 1/2 day this morning. We headed to the '90s hoping to find a decent bite like there was on friday, but no love. I made the decision to go to Christina's Ledge, and within 5 minutes of slowing down, had the first king mackerel on. While resetting the spread, hooked up on another one. Put the lines back out, and trolled for another hour and finally hooked up again. The winds and seas had built to 3-4 ft, with the occasional 5 thrown in, so we made the decision to head back to the dock. Final tally for the day: 3 king mackerel, one spanish, one shark, and one 13" sea bass on the downrigger. It looks like it's going to blow for the next couple of days, but will be back at it on thursday.

We left the inlet this morning and headed east looking for bait. About a half mile down Oak Island, the bait was thick in about 12 ft. of water. One throw, and we were loaded up. Headed to Yaupon Reef. Ended up with one king mackerel, one spanish, and a bunch of sharks. Also had 3 or 4 short strikes. I have another half day in the morning. I believe I'm going to Christina's Ledge or the 390/390. I let everyone know what happens. It look like we're heading to the bluewater on wednesday and thursday. I just hope the forecast holds. Winds less than 15 knts. all week.

I headed to the steeples yesterday morning after hearing of a great dolphin bite on thursday. You know the old saying, you should have been here yesterday. We'll that held true for us. On the troll, we caught 2 blackfin, one aj, and a few false albacore. We jigged for awhile and found a wide open aj bite. One positive note, one of the blackfin was a citation fish at 21lbs. 14 oz. Capt. Ryan Strickland ran a half day charter for me on the Grace May. He fished the 390/390 and found a great king mackerel bite, keeping the boats limit and releasing a few more. On the way back to the inlet, he spanish fished and caught quite a few spaniards as well. There was also a great king bite at Yaupon reef. The Yellow Dog, captained by Zack Shackelton, had 14 king mackerel and one 40 lb. cobia. I have a half day tommorow, and a blue water trip on Monday. I'll let everyone know what's going on. Capt. Lyndon

After looking at the temp and chlorophyll shots, I decided to head to the steeples today. It was my younger brother Jordan's first spring time stream trip, so I was hoping to put him on some fish. We put lines in around 3 miles inshore of the numbers, in 69 degree water. Just inshore of the structure was a nice temp break, going to 71 degrees. On the first pass over the numbers, I look back and see stripes after my dasiy chain. I grab the short flat, crank it in a couple of turns, and the hoosky nailed it. After a quick 1o minute fight, we box number one, around 20 lbs. About 30 minutes later, The short flat goes to screaming again. 15 minutes later, hoo number 2 in the box, around 30 lbs. About an hour later, the bird/green machine I had way long sounded off. This fish peeled off 300 yards of line, then bit through the fluorocarbon. We trolled for another hour or so with no love, and decided to go jigging. First drop, I hooked a decent hoo, which managed to bite me off. Next up, Jordan caught a 35 lb jack. This pace kept up for the next 3 hours. We released numerous jacks, a scamp around 15 lbs, and a yellow edge grouper in the high teens, as well as a few false albacore. On the way home, I decided to hit a bass number offshore of the tower a ways. In 30 minutes, we put 20 or so knotheads in the boat. What a great day. I'll post pics tommorow, as soon as I get them off the camera. Final tally, 2 wahoo, numerous jacks, 2 grouper, a few boneheads, and 20 or so big bass.

Sorry for the late report. Last Thursday, I took friends Edwin and Bruce, and Edwin's grandsons Myles and Cooper out for a half day. We were looking for black bass, and caught a bunch, with only a few keepers. We probably could have caught more, but the spiny dog fish were THICK. This was not a problem, however. The boys had a ball catching 40 or so, and keeping 18 to eat. I think the smiles on their faces say it all. Fishing is starting to heat up, so give us a call and let's go!

It looks like from Wed. on, the weather is going to be awesome. It also look like there may be some water pushing in around the wahoo holes to the south. I'll be willing to bet there is going to be a decent wahoo and blackfin bite this week. Also, the sea bass are thick in 80 ft water and deeper. Give us a call to book your trip today. 910-880-9947

Unfortunately, I've been busy getting the boats ready for the season and haven't been able to take advantage of the beautiful weather we've had the last couple of days. However, I do have a report to give you guys. Capt.'s Roger Gales and Zack Faulkner, as well as Zach's father Benji and Rickey Beck found an awesome sea bass bite at the Horseshoe yesterday. There were also some wahoo caught at the Same 'Ole, with a few blackfin tuna mixed in. The weather's getting right, the boats are ready to roll, and the fish are starting to chew. Give us a shout and let's go catch 'em up.

It looks like we are finally getting some good weather this weekend, so Im trying to put a trip or two together. Full day bass fishing-$850.00, or a make-up @ $215.00 per person. Max of 4 people for a make-up. Gulfstream trolling and/or bottom fishing-$1000.00 for the boat, or $250.00 per person. We can carry up to 6 if you reserve the whole boat, but I prefer to keep it to 4 people on make-ups. 910-842-8903. It looks like Sat through Monday are good right now. The knotheads are out there, and there should be some blackfin and wahoo around as well.

We tuna fished yesterday in Morehead City, but didn't have a bite by 11:00, and neither did most of the other boats fishing, so we headed offshore a little bit to commercial king mackerel fish. On our first and only stop, we found an awesome bite. In around 4 hours, we caught 47 kings and 30 or so false albacore. We'll...... be going back up after Christmas, so stay tuned, and Merry Christmas to Everyone.

We bluefin fished Monday and Tuesday in Morehead, but our number didn't get called. There were somewhere between 10 and 20 fish a day killed this week. We'll be back up there the first part of the week. I'll let everyone know what happens.

Due to winds that have blown for a month straight, we haven't been able to get on the water, but we have put the time to good use getting ready for giant bluefin tuna season. We are going to start fishing for them on Monday here at home, and then when we get the our new boat ready next week, we'll making the trek to Morehead City for the rest of the season. While this is primarily a commercial fishery, we are also offering charters for these awesome beasts. If you've ever wanted to catch a fish the size of a small car, now is the time. Give us a call for more information.

Yesterday, I fished with good friend Ryan Williams. We headed back to the east side of the shoals king fishing, and found a slow bite. We ended the day with 11 king mackerel, the largest in the low 30 lb. range. It looks like the weather isn't going to let us fish until the weekend, so I'll be getting ready for giant bluefin tuna season, which will begin for us next weekend. Stay tuned. Capt. Lyndon

Well guys, the king mackerel bite slowed a bit over the weekend, but was still pretty decent. I say slowed because on tuesday we commercial fished the horseshoe and had around 40 king mackerel between 10 and 15 lbs, a bunch of false albacore, as well as 2 blackfin in the 30 lb. range. On saturday we only had 7 or 8 at the shoe, and another 10 or so at the sharkhole. However, Saturday we were entered in the first annual Holden Beach Merchant Associations king mackerel tourney, and lucked up and won with a 24.5 lber. I went fun fishing today with good friends Edwin and Bruce. We went back to the sharkhole in search of grouper, and it was on. We kept our 3 fish limit and released another 12 gags. We headed on out to 95 ft of water looking for scamps, but ended up catching another nice gag, as well as 8 blackbass in the 2-3lb range, one barely legal red snapper, as well as a few triggers and grunts. My camera is messed up again, but I'll post pics as soon as I get them from the guys that have been fishing with me. I may try to go again tommorow. I'll let you guys know what we do.

The king mackerel fishing continues to be nothing short of on fire. We commercial fished 3 days last week, catching over 90 mackerel over the course of the 3 days. On Friday, I had a 1/2 day charter, and took them to the sharkhole. We had our 9 fish limit in just under 2 hours. The kings are spread out everywhere from the beach out to Frying Pan Tower, and will really get thick as fall progresses. On another note, we will be leaving for the Morehead City giant bluefin tuna bite around thanksgiving, and are taking reservations for charters from thanksgiving through the end of January. This is your chance to catch the fish of a lifetime, seeing that these fish average from 250 to 700 lbs. I have a couple of pics from last week, but left the camera on the boat. I'll try to post them tonight.

The king mackerel bite continue's to be good from the beach on out, with a good number of large fish in the 25-40 lb. range coming from the beach out to 50 ft. There are still a good number of spanish and bluefish around as well. The gag grouper and amberjack bite is good from 70 ft. of water on out, with alot of smaller kings in the same area's. The wahoo and blackfin tuna bite is good in the gulfstream, with some mahi-mahi and sailfish still mixed in. The fall fishing is as good as gets now, and in another month, the bluefin tuna will be around as well.

/>Friday, Jason Wheatley, Al Davis and myself headed out in search of King Mackerel. We went to the south fishing the 70 ft hole, jungle, hammer, and back in to the 90's. The bite was slow for numbers, but we did have some nice fish, with a couple in the mid and upper teens, and one in the mid-30's. I'll post pics as soon as I get them off my camera. On Saturday, I had Zack Shackelton and Jeff Reid on board. We tried to find some fish on the beach, but I guess it's still a couple of days early. We had one king mackerel on, and pulled the hooks right at the

We headed out this morning hoping to get a trip in before the rain. We did get to fish a coup1e of hours before getting rained out, and had a decent trip. We started out spanish fishing right in front of Lockwoods Folly Inlet, and put 4 or 5 in the boat in about 5 minutes, but the guys said they wanted to try to catch something a little larger. We set off down the beach in search of pogies, which we found plentiful just before Ocean Crest Pier. After catching bait, we headed straight off the pier in about 30 ft of water, where the tideline was rolling through. I put the spread out, and it wasn't 10 minutes when one the Speedmasters all but exploded. We cleared the rest of the lines and gave chase, as the fish had already smoked off 350-400 yards of line. The fish started acting strange, so I knew it was a decent shark and not a king makerel. An hour later, we had the app. 70 lb. hammerhead on ice, and were headed back to the marina before the gullywasher hit. The shark was caught on a 20 lb. live bait set-up, and was one heck of a battle. It looks like the weather is going to clear up on thursday, so I'll be back on the water then. The fall fishing is just around the corner, so give us a call today to book your trip.

I had a half day trip this morning with Perry Ballard and crew from Salisbury, NC. We headed to the Shark Hole in search of king mackerel, and unfortunately, the few we caught were all undersized. However, we did find a good bite of big spanish mackerel with a few mahi mixed in. I believe final tally for the morning was 6 spanish, 4 mahi, 3 under sized kings and one sharpnose shark. The ocean was beautiful, with extremely clear water. The fantastic fall fishing is just around the corner, so book your trip now for world class king mackerel, wahoo and grouper fishing.

The ocean was a little sloppy first thing this morning, so we spanished fished for a little while, with only one to show for our efforts. We then started working our way offshore in search of kings. We never did find them, however we did manage a handful of jumbo spanish, as well a 6 man limit of sharpnose sharks. All in all, not a bad trip. We should be on the water a few more days this week, so stay tuned.

On Wednesday, we started the day catching bait just west of Lockwood Folly Inlet, then headed to Frying Pan Tower to try and catch an African Pompano. No love. They seem to have disappeared. We then headed to the Southwest to bottom fish. We had a few silver snapper, b-liners, bass and triggerfish. It was not the best day I've had by a long shot, but the weather was perfect, and the water was so clear, we could see bottom in 80 ft. On thursday, we started the trip Spanish Mackerel fishing, and burnt them up for a little while, then headed Shark Fishing, finding much slower fishing, but we did release one small hammerhead. Due to Hurricane Bill, I'm off the water until Monday, when we are going to try to find some king mackerel and mahi-mahi.

Last thursday, we had a full day charter. We started at the 90's, with no luck. After that, we fished the 410/510, with a great bite of jumbo spanish, with a 12 between 4 and 5 lbs. We wanted to find kings, so we fished the Jungle next. In about an hour, we put 7 in the boat up to 15 lbs., and 2 mahi-mahi as well. All in all, not a bad day. Yesterday, we went spanish fishing on a half day trip. We managed 45 spanish, and one blacktip shark release. We also saw several king mackerel skying up through the spanish schools, which were about 3 miles off the beach. This is a good sign that the kings are here on the beach. Tommorow, I'm going grouper and african pompano fishing, and thursday, I'm going to king fish on the beach, so stay tuned.

The fishing is picking back up after the 3 week blow that we have had. The spanish are biting good again on the beach, with a few small king mackerel mixed in, with more kings and mahi from 65 ft. of water on out. As long as the water doesn't get to hot, the great fishing should continue, leading up to what I believe is going to be an amazing fall season. I say this due to the fact that the bait is as thick as I have seen, as well as the above-normal bite that we have had all summer.
Capt. Lyndon
July 29, 2009 Just wanted to let everyone know that due to winds and rigging new motors, we haven't fished but one day since last thursday. We tried to spanish fish yesterday, but only managed 2 in the slop and murk. We shark fished for the last half hour or so of the trip, and did catch one small hammerhead around 45 lbs. The good news is that we have replaced the 225 optimax's with 200 verado's. With these engines, we have gained around .3 mpg, but have lost 7 kts on the top end, which is no big deal since I rarely run over 30 knots. It is nice to actually be able to hear yourself think while running and fishing. Let's just hope the new motors raise fish like the old one's did. I'm kind of going to miss the opti's. They've been good to me the last year, running almost 1,000 hours, and raising countless thousands of fish. It's time to get the Verado's trained as soon as the wind let's up.
Capt. Lyndon
June 22, 2009 Went back to the horseshoe today on a 3/4 day charter. Once again, the bite was on fire for the first little while. As soon as we got the spread out, both downrigger's went off. Double header of king mackerel. As the guys were fighting them, we drifted by a log, and both surface baits went off. Double header of mahi-mahi. 4 fish on at a time in the first 10 minutes after we slowed down. As soon as I would put a fish in the box, I would sling another bait back out and immediately hook back up. Final tally for the day: 4 king mackerel and 10 mahi-mahi. I've got a half day trip tommorrow, so stay tuned.
Capt. Lyndon
July 21, 2009 I went back to the horseshoe today. This morning, the king bite was on fire for the first little bit, then died out. I as getting ready to make a move when I saw a bill behind one of the pogies. Just a second later, it was on. This was one mean sailfish, battling us on the 20 lb. live-bait tackle for over an hour. After snapping a couple of pics, we were able to revive the fish and released it to fight another day. The total tally for the day was 8 king mackere, one sailfish release and another in the spread, and one mahi-mahi. The weather couldn't have been any better.
Capt. Lyndon
July 17, 2009 The fishing continues to be excellent. Kings, mahi and sailfish at the horseshoe and sharkhole, spanish and sharks on the beach. The kings are anywhere from 8 lbs, on up, the mahi from 10 lbs on up, the spanish 1-4 lbs. and the sharks averaging aroun 30 lbs. We are catching blacktip, lemon, hammerhead and blacknose sharks. If you want the trip of a lifetime, give us a call to book today.
Capt. Lyndon
July 7, 2009 The king mackerel bite continues to be excellent. This morning, we caught a limit of nice fish, including one 33.45 lbs. and another around 25. We also released a few fish. This afternoon, the wind switched around to the east and shut the bite down. We did manage on king at lighthouse rock and one spanish on the beach.
Capt. Lyndon
July 5, 2009 The king mackerel bite continues to be great. We fished the Horseshoe today, catching our 15 fish limit with 3 dolphin mixed in. The fish were biting on both pogies and cigar minnows. The quality of the fish continues to improve as well.
Capt. Lyndon
June 29, 2009 We went back to the horseshoe today with great results. We started out pulling live bait, but wasn't getting bit real hard, so I switched a couple of livies out for dead cigar minnows, and it was on. The king mackerel were hitting the cigar minnows within 30 seconds of hitting the water. We also had 2 15-18 lb. mahi and 2 slinger mahi. Total tally for the day: 18 king makerel and 4 mahi. My customers are supposed to e-mail me pics, so I'll post them when I get them. We're heading back again tommorow, so stay tuned.
Capt. Lyndon
June 28, 2009 Today, we were headed to the gulfstream, but due to a big swell, we decided to stop at the horeshoe and fish for a while. The first bait in the water got smoked by a king mackerel. This pace continued for the next 2 hours. As I was changing baits for the last couple of passes, we hooked a sailfish. 20 minutes later, we released this beautiful creature to fight another day. We also had a school of 8-10 nice cobia follow a king to the boat, and hooked 3, landed 2. We left the shoe around 10:30 and headed to the break. We worked the blackjack and 100/400 for a couple of hours with no luck, then finished up the day bottom fishing. Total tally for the day: 8 king mackerel, 2 cobia, 2 grouper, and a sailfish release.
Capt. Lyndon
June 22, 2009
The mahi and king mackerel bite has been great at the shark hole lately. The kings are small, averaging around 8 lbs, with the mahi averaging around 10-12. The Spanish are still thick on the beach, with some large sharks in the same general area. The fishing is red hot right now, so give us a call and let’s go fishing.
Capt. Lyndon
June 17, 2009 The bite continues to be off the hook. The spanish are chewing hard on the beach, with the kings starting around 5 miles offshore. There are quite a few dolphin and cobia mixed in with the kings, with a few sailfish starting to show in the same areas. The grouper continues to be good from 80 ft. on out. The bait is still thick in the waterway. Give us a call to get in on the insane fishing we have going on right now.
Capt. Lyndon
June 12, 2009 While the dolphin bite in the gulfstream has slowed down a little, being great one day and non-existint the next, inshore, the bite is nothing short of on fire. The dolphin have moved in from 60 ft. of water on out. "The spanish bite is still awesome on the beach, with the king mackerel chewing great alongside the spanish. The kings are chewing in most of there typical summer time haunts, and the sailfish shouldn't be far behind. The pogies are thick not only on the beach, but also in the waterway all along Holden Beach. The grouper bite is great in 80 ft. of water on out with the b-liners from 70 ft. on out. There are also alot of cobia mixed in with the kings. The fishing is on fire, so don't wait to schedule your charter. Give us a call today.
Capt. Lyndon
May 27, 2009 The spanish bite is good on the beach. I had a half day charter this morning, and we had 34 decent spanish. We were fishing anywhere from 20-30 ft. of water off of Holden Beach. I'm taking my daughter this evening, then another half day in the morning. Stay tuned.
Capt. Lyndon
May 16, 2008 Today, I ran the Sea Hag out to the gulfstream. The dolphin bite was pretty good, but no wahoo to be found. We did however release our first sailfish of the year, a beauty at 69". On the nearshore front, the king bite is great from 50 ' ft of water on out, and the grouper bite is good in 90' on. The fishing just continues to improve, so give us a call to book your trip today.
Capt. Lyndon
May 1, 2009 Well, the wind finally laid and let us fish a few days the past week. The gulfstream fishing is great right now, with good catches of dolphin, wahoo, and large blackfin tuna. We have also had a white marlin in the spread. This is a great indicator of things to come for the billfish. Bottom fishing, we have had some great catches in 80-120 ft. of water. Large black bass, grunts, b-liners, as well as an American red snapper. On the beach, the spanish bite is warming up, with the first few king mackerel showing up at the shark hole, as well as Yaupon reef. As the water warms, the bite will only get better. Now is the time to go, so give us a call and let us take you on the adventure of a lifetime.
Capt. Lyndon
Hello everyone. I"m back from HI, and back fishing off of Holden Beach. The seabass bite is good from 50 ft of water on out, and the king mackerel bite is as good as it gets around Frying Pan Tower. I've commercial fished 2 days in the last week or so, and caught around 60 king mackerel each day. In the gulf stream, the dolphin are showing up, and there continues to be a steady wahoo bite. Hopefully the yellowfin tuna will make a showing in the next couple of weeks. We are geared up and ready to go, the fishing is as good as it gets, so give us a call and let us take you on the trip of a lifetime.
Capt. Lyndon
Feb. 15, 2009 Sorry I haven't been able to post in a while. I am currently fishing on a commercial fishing boat, as well as doing a little bit of mating on charter boats, out of Kona, HI through May 1. However, we do have Captain''s available for charters while I'm gone. We will try to keep everyone up to date on what's happening in Brunswick County as well. I'll try to post some pics of our tuna and marlin action from time to time. We are running 7-8 day trips out of Kona, fishing anywhere from 130-250 miles offshore targeting big-eye and yellowfin tuna. We have had a little bit of blue marlin action as well. Our tuna are anywhere from 20-125 lbs. Everryone have a great late winter, and I'll post more reports from the Pacific as time allows.
Capt. Lyndon
December 30, 2008 Well guys, the tuna bite finally fired off today down this way. There were app. 20-25 boats fishing, with 11 or 12 fish killed that I know of. Capt. John(QB)Quattelbaum and I lucked up and killed 2 today, an 81" that cored at 251, and a butter ball 74" that cored at 212. Our first hook-up came at 9:00, along with several other boats hooked up as well. Our second bite came at 11:00. It's always great when you can catch giants in your back yard. Unfortunately, it looks like it's going to blow for a couple of days, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that the fish will still be here when the wind lays again. Congratulations to every one here and in MHC that killed fish today. Capt. Lyndon

December 17,2008 Today I went commercial king mackerel fishing with my good friend Capt. Ryan Williams. We went straight to the tower, and as soon as the drone spoons hit the water, we had a double header. We had a pretty steady pick of 4-10 lb. mackerel for the rest of the day. The grand total was 78 fish, and 478 lbs. As long as the water stays over 64 degrees, the excellent king fishing will continue. Most folks think the king fishing is over by thanksgiving, but it is just getting good. As far as numbers go, our best fishing is late fall/early winter, and then again in early to mid spring. Tired of cabin fever? Give us a call, we have the perfect cure. I'm hoping to make at least one more trip before Christmas, but if not, I'll be back at it right after. I'll keep everyone informed as to what is happening.
Capt. Lyndon
December 4, 2008 I have teamed up with Capt. Jon and Amanda Tennant for the giant bluefin tuna season in Morehead City, NC this year. Our season started yesterday. We pulled all day with not so much as a sniff. Finally started marking bait at the end of the day. This morning we started well before first light were we marked the bait yesterday. At 7:00 Am sharp, the deep rod bounced and went to screaming. FISH ON!!!! After an hour and a half fight, we sunk the steel in a 89" bluefin. The fish cored out at 312 lbs. What a way to start the season. Tommorow we'll be back at it again. We'll let you know what we do.
Capt. Lyndon
November 17, 2008 Yesterday, we made a commercial king mackerel trip. Started out at the Horseshoe. It wasn't 10 minutes after we put the spoons in the water, it was on. We had 23 head, in between 8 and 18 lbs. in the box by 11:00. The bite died there, so we pushed offshore about a few miles and put them back in. We worked the line of rocks starting about 8 miles inshore of Frying Pan Tower, all the way to the tower. We managed 13 more by 4:30, as well as 26 false albacore, then headed for the hill. All in all, not to bad of a day. We're going to try it again on Thursday, as well as try for a bft for a couple of hours first thing in the morning. Going past the knuckle buoy on the way out, it looked good. Gannets, bait and porpoise's everywhere. Who knows, our number may just get called. This front that is pushing through this evening may just fire it off. Capt. Lyndon
November 15, 2008 Hello everyone. Sorry I haven't posted a report in a while. The king mackerel bite has been decent in 70 ft. of water on out, with some gag grouper in the same area's. The red grouper bite has been good on the east side of the shoals in 90 ft. of water on out. There should be some wahoo in the stream, however no one has been able to make it lately. The bluefin tuna should be here any day now. Capt. Lyndon
August 14, 2009 The spanish bite continues to be great in 35-40 ft. of water. The king mackerel bite is good in 60 ft. of water on out, and the grouper bite is good from 95 ft. of water on out. Don't forget about the upcoming South Brunswick Isle's king tournament here at the marina labor day weekend. The fall fishing is just around the corner, so be sure to book now to make sure we have your day available.
Capt. Lyndon
July 25, 2008
On this morning’s trip, we headed to the 10 mile rock, where we found a great king bite. Unfortunately, most were undersized. We caught 8 or10, with only one legal to keep. That’s the way it goes sometimes. I couldn’t have asked for a better crew or action on a half day charter. This afternoon, we started at Christina’s Ledge and worked our way out to about 70 ft. with only one king and one barracuda to show for it, so we began to work our way back in. A friend called from Christina’s Ledge and said the kings were beginning to chew, so we headed back over there. We weren’t there 15 minutes when we put our second of the day in the box. The first line back in got nailed as well. This went on for the next hour. We ended up with 8 or 9 kings. The weather was absolutely perfect, and looks like it will stay that way for a while.
Capt. Lyndon
July 22, 2008 Today, we went to AR 445 to try and catch a king fish or barracuda. Upon arriving, we saw spanish mackerel jumping everywhere, so we decided to change plans. We put the clark spoons out and within 5 minutes, we had a double header. The action continued for the rest of the morning with numerous double and triple hook-ups, until the tide went slack at high tide. From then on, we just picked at them. We ended the day with 34 nice spanish. It was a great trip, and as the water continues to clear, the spanish will continue to move back in on the beach. The pogies where just east of the inlet this morning. Capt. Lyndon
July 19, 2008 The kingfishing continue's to be excellent from 60 ft on out, with an above normal number of sailfish mixed in, as well as a few cobia and dolphin. Last Saturday we released another sail, this one at the 24 mile rock. I'll post the pictures as soon as they are e-mailed to me. Before the tropical storm came through, there were a few spanish on the beach, and quite few big sharks just offshore. We have a few trips this week, so stay tuned. It's going to be interesting to see what happens to the fishing after the storm.
Capt. Lyndon
July 6, 2008
Friday, we headed back out to the shark hole in search of king mackerel. The king bite was really slow, but as I was in the process of changing out baits, the double pogy in the prop was went to screaming. At first I thought it was a smoker king, until it began tail walking. SAILFISH ON!! We cleared the other lines and gave chase, as we had the fish on a light tackle live bait outfit with 20 lb. line. After a 30 minute fight, we released a beautiful 57” sailfish in great condition. On Saturday, we headed to the gulf stream. We put baits in just short of the 100/400. Right before we arrived at the structure, we saw a beautiful rip right in front of us. On the inshore side of it, we released a small barrucuda, on the offshore side of it, we put a small bull dolphin in the box. We worked the rip for a while with no other hook-ups, then trolled up the break toward the blackjack hole. About 3 miles short of the blackjack, the shotgun line went to screaming. This fish ran like crazy. I thought we had hooked into a 50+ lb. wahoo, but when the 25 lb.’er came to the boat, I saw why it fought so hard. It the hook buried in his jaw, but the line was wrapped around his tail. We trolled for a little while longer and the planer bait went off. It wasn’t long before the fish showed it’s self. BIG dolphin. After a good 15 minute fight, the 30 lb. bull was on ice and we were back trolling. It wasn’t long before we another small dolphin in the boat, and released a couple more ‘cudas. We also had a sailfish come up behind a bait, but couldn’t get him to eat, as well as a couple more wahoo bites that shook the hook. All in all, a pretty good day. Here are some pics from the last couple of days. Capt. Lyndon
June 2, 2008
The fishing was kind of strange today. We started at the Atlantic Ledge, and caught one barracuda, so we headed on offshore to the Gary Ennis, an artificial reef in 90 ft. of water, where we caught one Amberjack as soon as we pulled up. From there, we headed inshore to the 26 mile rock, caught one king and had a couple more short strikes, all in the first 10 minutes, then nothing for the next half hour. Headed to the 22 mile rock, exact same situation. We went to the Sharkhole next, caught 3 kings real quick, then not another bite. I talked to a couple of friends, and they said they had the same problem, bites as soon as you put baits in the water, then nothing else. Oh well, everyone one had a great time, so what more can you ask for. Tommorow is another day, so we’ll see what happens.
Capt. Lyndon
July 1, 2008
After the big blow that we’ve had the last few days, the seas finally calmed down enough today for us to get back out. I fished the shark hole this morning, and caught a handful of small kings, with only one being big enough to boat. This afternoon, we went to the Atlantic Ledge. We started out bottom fishing, and caught a bunch of undersized beeliners, and lost a couple of grouper in the rocks. While bottom fishing, we saw a couple of kings sky up, so we decided to troll for a while. First bait in the water, BAM fish on. While fighting it, part of the party starting feeling bad, so they decided to come back in. I heard through the grapevine that there some nice dolphin caught at the ledge this morning, so we are going go back out there in the morning. I’ll let everyone know tomorrow night what we do.
Captain Lyndon
June 24, 2008 Everyone at Holden Beach Sportfishing Charters and Holden Beach Marina would like to offer our condolences to the family of Scott Hewett. For those of you who haven't heard, Capt. Scott lost his life on Saturday during an extreme thunderstorm while fishing the Jolly Mon King Classic. Scott was a great friend and all around great guy. You couldn't be around him for long before you realized how much he loved fishing. He always had a mile wide smile and a funny story for you. Scott, you will be sorely missed.
Capt. Lyndon and everyone at Holden Beach Marina
June 24, 2008
Due to the recent rains, the Spanish mackerel have left the beach, however the kings are biting very well in the 65 ft. depths. The grouper bite continues to be good from 90 ft. on out, and there are some dolphin in 65 ft of water on out to the break. There have also been some kings around lighthouse rocks and the 390/390. The fishing is good, the weather is great, come on down and go with us.
Capt. Lyndon
June 10, 2008
Well folks, the Spanish mackerel bite continues to be hot on the beach, while the king bite has slowed a little bit, go figure. The pogies show up in force, the kings disappear. However, the first sailfish inshore of the gulf stream showed up today. I had a ¾ day charter targeting dolphin, so we went to the horseshoe. We caught a few small dolphin, one king, several Spanish, and had a sail-dog “window-shop” in our spread, but couldn’t get him to eat. A good friend of mine hooked one on a pogy at the shark hole, but unfortunately busted him off. It’s only a matter of days before it will be worth targeting sail at the usual inshore hot-spots. There continues to be an above average blue-marlin bite in the stream, with quite a few gaffer dolphin and nice wahoo around as well. The fishing is as good right now as it’s been in several years. If you’ve been waiting on the right time to take a trip, this is it. Give us a call to book your trip today.
Captain Lyndon
June 8, 2008
The fishing the last few days has been nothing short of on fire. The Spanish and shark action on the beach continues to be awesome. The pogies have shown up in force off of both Holden Beach and Oak Island. There are some kings on the beach, as well as in the 65’ depths, on out to 100 +’ . The dolphin are moving to the 80 ft’ depths, as are the grouper. In the blue water, there is still an awesome gaffer dolphin bite, with a few wahoo and blackfins mixed in, as well as a few blue marlin and sailfish showing up. I have several pics on my camera from the last few days, but left it on the boat. I will post the pictures tomorrow night. Congratulations to Glen Godfrey and crew for their 52 lb. wahoo caught yesterday, as well as the crew of the Bossea, out of Holden Beach marina on their nice catch of dolphin and a wahoo yesterday. On Friday, we ran the Sea Hag out to the Blackjack. We caught several nice dolphin and a beautiful red grouper. Wednesday and Thursday were spent Spanish and shark fishing, with outstanding results. On Saturday, Holden Beach Marina hosted Take A Kid Fishing. We had over 25 youths on board 6 boats. Every boat caught numerous Spanish, and all the kids had a great time. Today, I had family in from out of town. We went back Spanish and shark fishing, Once again, we killed the Spanish, as well as released a 5’ shark. The fishing is as good as gets, so now’s the time to book you summer trips.
Capt. Lyndon
June 2, 2008 This weekend I fished the Bald Head Island Fishing Rodeo on the Sea Hag with Rick Niesler. On friday, we weighed in 3 nice dolphin and the largest wahoo of the tournament, a 47 lb'er. We also had several dolphin that didn't make the 15 lb. minimum weight. On saturday, we caught several more dolphin and a small wahoo, but didn't have anything to way, however we did end up finishing in sixth place overall, and had the largest wahoo of the weekend. I'll post the pics tonight. On the nearshore front, the spanish are extremely thick on the beach, and the kings are in the 65 ft. depths, with some dolphin mixed in at 80ft. The weather's great, as is the fishing, so come on down and take a trip with us. Capt. Lyndon
Thursday May 22, 2008 Well everyone, the summer season is almost here. The spanish are on the beach, the sharks shouldn't be far behind. The kings are in the 65-80 ft. depths, and the grouper are in 80+ on out. The dolphin are thick in the stream, with a few wahoo and blackfin mixed in. Be sure to book your trips early to make sure that we have openings when you want to go. Everyone have a safe and happy Memorial Day. Capt. Lyndon
Saturday May 17, 2008 Tom Vicars and crew aboard the BIrd Dog headed south to the Winyah Scarp today for some good blue water action. The dolphing bite was on fire. They tried to high speed troll to catch a wahoo or tuna, but couldn't keep the dolphin off the lines. Congratulations Tom on an awesome day. The bluewater fishing is nothing short of world class, and the nearshore fishing is awesome as well. Come on down and take a trip, and let us show you what fishing is all about.
Capt. Lyndon
May 10, 2008 I fished day one of the far-out shoot out out of Ocean Isle with HBM customer Tom Vicars and crew on board the Bird Dog today. We started out at the Black Jack with a few dolphin, then high speed trolled toward the 100/400. We had one solid hook up, but the fish threw the hooks, as well as a couple more knockdowns. Once at the 100/400, we put the ballyhoo back in and picked up a couple more dolphin as well as a triple header of blackfin tuna. All in all not a bad day on the water. Once the wind lays out mid-week, we'll be back out there, so stay tuned.
Capt. Lyndon
May 7, 2008 The kingfishing is still good at the horseshoe. I have heard reports of kings at the sharkhole/15 mile rock area's as well as the jungle. Reports indicate that the dolphin fishing is getting pretty good now, and should only continue to get better as the month progresses. It looks like it's going to blow for a few days, but we may be able to get back out on Saturday.
Capt. Lyndon
May3,2008 Weekend report Friday we kingfished again. The bite was good at the horseshoe with the fish a little larger at about 8 lbs. Sunday, same thing. The fish are moving closer to the beach, and should be in the 65 ft. areas. We're going again tommorrow, so stay tuned. On another note, the dolphin have shown up in the stream finally. The fishing will only be getting better from here, so be sure to book you trip soon. Capt. Lyndon
May 1, 2008 Kingfished in the tower area today. The bite was great in the Tower area. We stayed within 8 miles of the tower area. The fishing just continues to improve, and will get closer and closer to the beach as the month goes on. Now's the time to book you spring and summer charters. Give us a call. I'll be going again tommorow, so stay tuned.
Capt. Lyndon
Wednesday April 30, 2008 Today, I took Rick Niesler, owner of the Sea Hag, and a couple of his clients, Matthew and Terry, to the blue water. We started a little inshore of the Steeples on a beautiful rip and temp. break. We hadn't been trolling for long when Matthew boxed a nice 20 lb. dolphin. I figured after that the bite would be on. WRONG. We trolled for a couple more hours with nothing to show, so we decided to change the spread to all lures and high speed troll. I had no more than pumped the throttles up when a nice wahoo hit. It was Terry's turn on the rod, and after a short battle, we had a nice 25 lb. wahoo on ice. We continued to troll with nothing else to show for, but we had 2 nice fish in the boat, so it was a succesful trip. I will be kingfishing tommorow, so I'll post a report tommorow night.
Capt. Lyndon
Saturday April 26, 2008 We headed back out to the tower area today in search of more kingfish. We put the hardware in at the tower reef, but the action was pretty slow. At the reef however we did put our first Spanish Mac of the year in the boat, a beauty at app. 6 lbs. We then went to the tower itself, and again slow, inconsistent action. Around lunch, I decided enough was enough, and headed east. While running, I marked what appeared to be bait on the bottom machine, so I turned around on it. When we got back to the area, the screen lit up with the most beautiful piece of live bottome that I have saw in a long time. We put the spoons out to give a shot, and the kings were chewing as fast as we could get them in the water. This spot saved the day. It just goes to show that you should never give up, and to always have a plan b. On another note, Ocean Crest Pier is reporting that they have been catching a few kings since thursday, and started catching spanish today. It is only a matter of time before we have our early run of big kings right on the beach. Capt. Al Davis took his boat, "My Hooker" out to the Shark Hole on Saturday and caught a handful of kings. The fish are definately moving in, so now is the time to come on down and experience our fabulous spring fishing. We have a bluewater charter on wednesday, so stay tuned for my report on wednesday evening. Captain Lyndon
Monday April 21, 2008 Capt. Charles Mcclure and myself headed to the tower area today in search of king mackerel. We stopped about 8 miles inshore and put the drone spoons in. The action was nonstop for the next 1.5 hours. After a while, the action died out to nothing, so we went searching, and picked at them for the rest of the day. We ended up with 54 king mackerel and 2 bluefish about 6-7 lbs. apiece. The actions heating up, as is the weather, so come on down for some fantastic spring action,
Capt. Lyndon
Saturday April 19, 2008 Today, Zack Shackelton and myself went to the south to see if the kings have shown up yet. We started at AR 465, which is the Gary Ennis reef, and worked our way to the twin cities wrecks, as well as farther south. There was a lot of bait everywhere, but we only caught one king. We decided to try a little bottom fishing at the twin cities, and was rewarded with fast action on 2.5-3.5 lb. sea bass. With the conditions being what they are down that way, (water being right and plenty of bait), it's only a matter of time before the kings show up in force down there. On another note, HB Marina customer Tom Vicars and crew on board the Bird Dog went east to the Steeples and Same Ole, and found some yellowfin tuna, dolphin, kingfish, and false albacore action. The spring bluewater season is here, so come down and begin the adventure of lifetime. We'll be fishing in the upcoming week, so stay tuned.

Friday April 11, 2008 Today, I had Rick Niesler, owner of the Sea Hag that we will running this year, out for a bluewater trip. While we suprisingly didn't mark any bait or have any bites, we fished from the Black Jack to the Steeples. I say suprisingly because the water was perfect. 77-78 degrees, and gulf stream blue. We did, however, see the first flying fish of the year. This is a very promising sign that the tuna and dolphin will be making a showing any time now. To end the day, we stopped inshore of the tower on the way back, and caught a limit of king mackere in 30 minutes. Everything is shaping up for a great spring season. On another note, we would like to congratulate Dean Spatholt and the Fishmeister team on their win in the Martini's Wahoo Challenge out of Little River with a 66.7 lb. wahoo. Folks, the water's getting right, the winds are wanting to lay, it's time to start thinking of fishing. Come on down and see what fun's all about.

Monday April 7, 2008 Blown out once again. We haven't been on the water in over 2 weeks now, however it looks like thursday and friday are going to be good. As long as mother nature cooperate's, we will be fishing one, if not both days. On the inshore scene, there are still reports of puppy drum being caught, as well as a few flounder. Based on past experiences, as long we have good water, there should be some yft and a few dolphin in the stream. The kings should be thicker than flies on honey at the tower, and possibly even a little closer in. Stay tuned for reports from the end of the week, and remember, the spring bluewater season is here, so give us a shout to book the adventure of a life time.
Sunday March 30, 2008 The March winds have not allowed us to fish this week, however on the inshore front, there have been some whiting showing up, as well as a few red and black drum, and trout. I have a gulf stream charter on board our newest offshore boat on Wednesday, a 31' Blackfin Express, named "Sea Hag". This is an extremely nice boat, complete with head, cabin, heat and air, as well as nice tower. Stay tuned for the report from Wednesday. The weather is sure to break soon, so be sure to book your trips for the spring gulfstream season, which is just around the corner.

Friday March 21, 2008 We fished 2 days this week, but with the full moon and strong blows that we have had recently, the fishing has been less than stellar. The water temp. has been right, but with the water being so stirred up, the kings have not been chewing real hard. We managed a handfull both days, but nothing to brag about. The fish have been mostly well to the east, in 85-100 ft. of water. It looks like we may be getting into a more settled weather pattern next week, so the fishing should really fire off. In the gulf stream, the reports I have been hearing have been cool water and slow fishing, but it should fire off any day now.
Monday March 10, 2008 Went to try for kings again today. The way the sst charts looked, the water was warmer on our side of the shoals, to the west of the tower. The action was slow, but we did manage 8 or 9 kings, up to 18 lbs. Find any structure holding bait with water at least 66 degrees and you should find the kings. The spring fishing is heating up, so why not take a trip with us and get rid of your cabin fever?
Thursday March 7, 2008 Went back to the east side today in search of king mackerel. The warm water had pushed inshore, so we started about 30 miles off of Carolina Beach. The king and false albacore bite was steady all day, with kings from barely legal, up to about 15 lbs. The weather and fishing will only be getting better, so come on down and take a trip with us. You won't be dissappointed. Capt. Lyndon
March 2, 2008 Headed back to the east of the tower today in search of king mackerel. We had a pretty consistent bite most of the day. Ended up catching 23, with 4 over 20 pounds, the largest right at 28 pounds. They are here in full force, and will be getting thicker all the time. Some boats also caught them right at the tower, but it was a much smaller class of fish, with most being in the 3-8 lb range. Spring is here, the fish are biting, so why not join us for a memorable day on the water. Captain Lyndon
February 29, 2008 Went to the break again today. Started out pulling ballyhoo, but only had one taker, a nice blackfin tuna @ 20 lbs. We went to the bottom, but the current was running so hard that it was hard to fish, so we came in and fished east of the tower. This was one of the hardest day bottom fishing I have had in years. We didn't catch anything but amberjacks on the bottom, but the water east of the tower looked great, so we went kingfishing again, just to see if they were around. We ended up catching 8 kings and about as many false albacore. THEY'RE HERE!!! All in all, a great day on the water. It could not have been a prettier day. Captain Lyndon
Febuary 25, 2008 Today, we wanted to see if their were any kings around yet. We hit several spots in the 95-140 ft. range, and nothing but false albacore, so we decided to go grouper fishing for the last couple of hours. We headed to 175 ft. of water on the break, and caught 3, one really nice gag @ 28 lbs., and two reds, one 18 lbs., one 12 lbs. We also had a few amberjack. It's only a matter of time, so stay tuned.

Febuary 19, 2007 Hello Everyone, and Welcome To HoldenBeachSportfishingCharters.Com's Fishing Report Page. Due To The Weather, We Haven't Been Able To Fish In A Couple Of Weeks, However, The Sea Bass Bite Continue's To Be Good In 60+ Feet Of Water. The Kingfish Should Be In The General Vicinity Of The Tower, Just Look For 68 Degree Or Warmer Water. The Grouper Bite Continues To Be Good In 120 Feet, On Out To The Break. When Guys Have Made It To The Stream, There Has Been A Few Wahoo And Blackfin Around The Black Jack And Steeples, And It Should Only Be A Matter Of Time Before The Yellowfin Show Up. I'm Going To Try It Wednesday, So Stay Tuned.

February 20, 2008 Just wanted to let everyone know that we were blown out again this morning. We will be trying it as soon as the weather let's us, so stay tuned. There are fish out there waiting to be caught as soon as we can get to them. It is that time of year where patience is a virtue.
